In complete contrast to the stately elegance of Minstrel we offer a true adrenalin rush onboard our charter managed Sigma 38 Gallant. She’s fresh from a successful 2010 season with a very credible fifth championship place overall and an outright win at the prestigious Royal London Yacht Club Regatta. Her crew were proud to be awarded the Britannia Salver during Cowes Week for “outstanding seamanship.”

If you’ve ever secretly imagined just what it would be like racing around the Solent, then a day or weekend onboard this iconic British cruiser/racer is a must. You’ll join a mix of fellow guests plus friendly experienced crew and a knowledgeable skipper. They’ll be delighted to introduce you to the sport they love and take you through the basics of yacht racing. It’s fast, sometimes furious and always loads of fun. Suitable for beginners of all ages (bus pass holders welcome) and old hands alike - participating as much as you wish.

Sigma 38’s are great boats to learn to race on, famous for their forgiving nature, comfort and seaworthiness; still the most numerous class in JOG and RORC events which they regularly win. Offshore, Sigma’s excel as the 600 mile Fastnet race testifies – family crewed Sigma 38’s regularly beating all comers in class.

You can choose either handicap races, or the even more thrilling One Design events where you compete on a boat-for-boat basis against identical yachts with every second counting as the fun lasts right up to the finishing line!
